Olympics: China fired soccer coach

China has fired Serbia's Ratomir Dujkovic as coach of its Olympic football team just three weeks before the start of the Beijing Games, state media has reported.

Indeed, the Serb, 62, was replaced by former coach of the men's under-20 national team Yin Tiesheng, Xinhua news agency said, quoting the Chinese Football Association (CFA).

CFA vice chairman Xie Yalong told the agency there was discontent among players over Dujkovic's training methods and tactics.

However, he also said the Serb had been suffering from health problems, including high blood pressure.

"The players are not content with Dujkovic's training methods and strategies, and for the sake of the Olympics, we have to make some changes," Mr Xie said.

The Serb, appointed head coach of the team in 2006, will be retained in an advisory role and will retain some influence on team tactics, Mr Xie added.

"From now on, Yin will be in charge of the training and matches. Since Dujkovic has steered the team for about two years, he is still able to play his part in tactics," he said.

As we know, China is grouped in a tough zone with Brazil, Belgium and New Zealand.
