F1: Heikki Kovalainen made it for McLaren

Amazingly, McLaren's new signing, the handsome Heikki Kovalainen took top honours at Formula One testing in Spain on Wednesday, beating Ferrari's Felipe Massa to the best time of the day.

Indeed, the Finn's predecessor at the British team, two-time world champion and home favorite Fernando Alonso, could only manage sixth in his new Renault R28 on his last day on the Cheste circuit.

We must remember that Kovalainen was with Renault last season, and now he recorded a best time of 1.11.000 minutes on the Ricardo Tormo circuit near Valencia, 0.662 seconds ahead of the Brazilian Massa.

Following the race, we must say that Massa's Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen, the reigning world champion, was third, with McLaren's Lewis Hamilton fourth on his first day of testing at the circuit.

Proving the high expectation, almost 22,000 people turned up to watch the tests, which continue on Thursday when Alonso's teammate Nelsinho Piquet takes to the track.
