Cricket: James Anderson wants to play in World Cup

English Cricket star James Anderson is vowing to be fit for next month’s World Cup after being sent home from England’s tour Down Under.

Indeed, Anderson, who is 24, is returning early because his back problem refused to clear up sufficiently for him to play in England’s final four games.

What's more, captain Michael Vaughan missed this morning’s one-dayer against Australia because of his hamstring strain — but hopes to be fit to face New Zealand on Tuesday.

We can say that Anderson’s injury is a worry because he missed most of last summer with a stress fracture of the back which forced him to wear a corset for more than a month.

However, the Burnley boy insisted: “It’s just a precautionary measure. If it was the World Cup final tomorrow, I’d definitely play.

“I really understand why the decision has been made. In fact, it’s nice to be in a position where the management are confident enough in my bowling to take this precaution.

“That means I’m in their key plans for the upcoming World Cup. I’ve felt that I’ve bowled well in this one-day series and it’s good to know the management think so too.” he concluded.
