Asian Games: Fans in Doha are ready for the Asian Games

The fanatics from many parts of the world will fill the Khalifa Stadium on Friday to witness the magnificent opening ceremony of the 2006 Doha Asian Games.

As we know, four days before the official kick-off of the Asian sports gala, about 95 percent of the 50,000 tickets for the opening ceremony have been sold out.

"Yes, tickets for the opening ceremony are really popular. Only five percent of the tickets are still available," said Mohammed Mohasherul Islam from the Corniche Branch of the Tickets Box Office.

"I can comfirm that tickets for the closing ceremony also sells well with about five percent left," he added.

In fact, the prices of tickets for the 2006 Doha Asian Games ranges from QR 5 to QR 20 for various sports. The ticket prices for opening and closing ceremonies are QR 500 and QR 150 respectively.

Mohammed Mohasherul Islam tells us that tickets for swimming, gymnastics and football are best sellers among all sports.

Furthermore, the Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOC) has made the sale of tickets for the 2006 Asian Games quite feasible. Tickets can be bought according to the sport, venue or date.

It's also good to know that half of the money from the sale of tickets for the 2006 Asian Games will be donated to a charity in Qatar known as Reach Out to Asia, which targets community development projects seeking quality education in the continent.
