Basketball: USA eliminated in World Championship

No matter what they say, the Team USA let us down. The United States basketball "Dream Team" lost to Greece 101-95 in the semifinals of the FIBA World Basketball Championship.

Indeed, Greece, the European champions, advances to face Spain, which defeated Argentina, 75-74, in the other semifinal. Spain might be without their most important player, Pau Gasol, who sprained his left ankle and watched the closing minutes from the bench. The title game is Sept. 3.

It's important to say that Greece shot 63 percent over the final three quarters, turning a 12-point deficit into a 14-point lead against a U.S. team that included some of the biggest names in the NBA, including LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony. In the other hand, Greece doesn't have an NBA player on its roster.

Is there an explanation for this? Sure. It's never enough to have great players in your list. You must be able to build a team. Rivals in this Championship proved they have as much potential as the Americans, and they have also teamwork spirit. But maybe the coach can say it better:

"Their offense beat our defense, and I take responsibility for that," U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski admitted. "We win and lose together, but in a loss a coach needs to take more responsibility than anyone else." he finished.
